[dropcap type =”circle”]T[/dropcap]here are still places available for anyone who wants to take part in this year’s Bicester Santa Run for charity.

The Annual Santa Fun Run, organised by Bicester Town Council, has become a firm favourite on the calendar with more than 500 people taking part last year.

Local people are being urged to sign-up and help raise money for the Mayor, Jason Slaymaker’s charities, OYAP Trust, Nai’s House, Bicester Fire Cadets and Alexandra House of Joy.

It takes place on Sunday, December 15, starting at Pingle Field at 11am, and Santas will weave their way around the streets of Bicester town centre, finishing back at Pingle Field to claim their medal and a bacon roll.

Runners, including Deputy Mayor Nick Mawer, will race about 4k along Pingle Drive, Oxford Road, North Street, Sheep Street, Market Square, Manorsfield Road, St John’s Street, Queens Avenue, Kings End, Church Lane, Old Place Yard and finish in Pingle field.

Cllr Slaymaker said: “I am really looking forward to the Santa Run, what better way to welcome the festive season.

“Watching a sea of Santas race around Bicester is an amazing sight. I would urge residents to take part, but if you can’t, then please come and watch and cheer the runners on – it really is great fun.

“I would like to thank the Stocker family, who run Evolve Health & Fitness, for kindly sponsoring this wonderful community event for the 5th year running. These events can’t happen without the generous support of local businesses.”

Entry costs £10 per adult, £5 for children or £25 for a family ticket covering two adults and two children.

The price includes a Santa suit, participation medal and bacon roll at the finish line.

The closing date for on-line entries is December 6 but people can register at the town council’s office, in Garth Park, off Launton Road, until Friday, December 13. People cannot register on the day.
