[dropcap type =”circle”]T[/dropcap]here’s something for the whole family at The Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel, which will take place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June at Bicester Heritage, Oxfordshire.
The spectacular event combines world-class cars and bikes, a dazzling array of vintage aircraft, an impressive collection of military machines and incredible live demonstrations both on the ground and in the air at the historic site. There’s also a Vintage Village featuring period fairground rides, live music performances, shopping and food stalls.
Automobile lovers will delight at the spectacle from the finest that the classic car world has to offer. Rare and immensely valuable historic racing cars and motorcycles – some over 100 years old – will take to the demo track to show off in glorious tyre-squealing style, classic motor clubs will stage displays and the open-access paddock lets visitors get up close to these magnificent machines. There will also be an impressive collection of historic military vehicles on display, and even passenger rides in the live-action tank arena!
Moving from the ground to the skies, there will be fantastic air displays of historic aircraft. Last year’s Flywheel Festival saw a Spitfire v Buchon ‘dogfight’, an RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire and Dakota and precision flying and acrobatics from the Tiger 9 team as well as an outstanding recreation of a WW1 battle in the air. The aircraft will also be parked up to give visitors the chance to experience them up-close.
Away from the motoring and aviation action, treats in the vintage entertainment area include traditional and nostalgic fair rides from times gone by and live music, featuring the sounds of chart-topping classics from a bygone era, performed by hugely talented musicians. There will be a wide choice of food and drink available (including licensed bars) to keep visitors fed and watered during the action-packed show!
Film buffs are also in for a treat as they’ll be able to see filming spots that have been used for box office hits The Imitation Game and The Darkest Hour at Bicester Heritage, the UK’s best preserved Second World War Bomber Station.
