[dropcap type =”circle”]W[/dropcap]ho knew that we were surrounded by such fantastic emporiums, small boutiques and showrooms with beautiful pieces for your homes. All of which are local businesses, giving us even more of a reason to show them our support and pay them a visit.

The Old Flight House in Weston on the Green, is one of my favourites, different units selling an array of old and new, antiques and reclaimed pieces. They sell some beautiful old windows that have been transformed into mirrors for the home or garden, and are a stockist for Annie Sloan Chalk Paints.Although the interiors are the main draw for me to the centre, they hold a large range of vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery too. Why not time your visit, so that you can enjoy a nice coffee or even lunch in their café and on a bright day you can enjoy it outside in the courtyard.
Next up, Heart and Soul also in Weston on the Green, a sweet boutique with accessories for the home and great gifts. They also stock upcycled pieces and offer a furniture painting service.
I am in love with the shutters that they have in store at the moment, such a unique piece that is so versatile.

As if the store itself wasn’t a good enough reason to pop down to Manor Farm, it is next to the wonderful Milk Shed. A quirky café with delicious organic homemade ice-cream, locally roasted coffee and fresh food using lots of locally sourced products.

If you would like to support a local business but from the comfort of your home and you particularly like Scandinavian style accessories (plus lots of lovely goodies for yourself) take a look at https://southwood-stores.myshopify.com run by the lovely Hayley, who not only runs this online store and showroom, but also a social hub for women in business, giving access to help and advice from some amazing entrepreneurs.

I recently attended a screen printing course at The Southwood Social Hub which was lots of fun, they hold a variety of different courses that are worth checking out from Origami to social media for your business.

Staying in a similar area, the lovely Adorn by M in Winslow is a beautiful little lifestyle boutique, selling a range of timeless home accessories as well as treats for yourself. They focus their purchases on items that are luxury and handmade that you can “keep for always” instead of following a trend.

A slightly different direction but only a short drive is Brackley Antiques Cellar, if you are looking for a unique gift, something different for the home or even a project (for upcycling or upholstery) similar to Weston on the Green’s, Old Flight house, they have a number of units filled with treasures and antiques. I could spend hours browsing through this wonderful tardis!

Lastly, the wonderful Stratton Audley Barn, a wonderful spot in the countryside, with a café and beautiful store of home accessories and gifts. The items for the home are tasteful and stylish, from small accessories to bigger pieces of furniture including statement corner lamps, elegant chairs and incredible sideboards. A perfect rural setting makes this a lovely spot to visit and have lunch on a weekday.
