[dropcap type =”circle”]A[/dropcap] new caring service to support people in their homes and combat loneliness and isolation has been launched for the Bicester area.
Clare Pearce has launched North Oxfordshire Home Care in response to the growing problem of isolation and loneliness that is experienced by people who find leaving the house difficult.
Clare said: “I cared for my grandparents and I also help care for my father who suffers from Parkinson’s Disease. I have previously worked for an agency that provides care for people in their own homes, but it became increasingly obvious to me that people need more time than most carers can give. The carers were under pressure to visit as many people as possible in a day and this just doesn’t give people the time that they really need.”

Clare’s service offers befriending and companion led care and she spends time with her clients ensuring they are comfortable and have their basic needs met, while also arranging to take them to medical appointments, to visit friends or just go out for a coffee and a chat.
Clare added: “The people I look after are isolated and loneliness is a real problem, particularly in rural areas. Often their families do not live locally and have busy lives. They find getting out and about impossible on their own and I make sure I have plenty of time to take them wherever they need to go. Our service is led by the people we are caring for. I have one lady who really likes me to do her hair and nails-it makes her feel better and gives us quality time together to chat.
“Other people like me to cook them a meal or take them out for a drive or a coffee. Sometimes, a simple change of scene can really make a difference to someone’s day. I love my job and I love helping people to lead a full life and to enjoy simple pleasures that can have such a vital impact on how they feel.
“It is important for all of us to enjoy a full and enriching life, whatever our situation and we understand that it is often the little moments in our day that make all the difference to how we feel. We offer a unique approach to supporting people in their own homes by making sure they are our priority.”
