[dropcap type =”circle”]A[/dropcap]lmost a year after it opened its doors, the Savoir Fare Café in Bicester’s Garth Park is proving to be a very popular option for morning coffee, breakfasts and lunch.
Owner Lorraine Fare designed the eco building herself, and has been overwhelmed by the support of the Bicester community since she opened last March.
Lorraine said: “We are just about to celebrate our first birthday and we weren’t sure how busy we would be during the colder months but we have been very lucky and very busy! We are very proud of what we have achieved and delighted with the support we have received from everyone.”

The cafe building is designed to be almost entirely self sustainable. It is insulated with lambs wool and has solar panels.
Lorraine added: “Our roof tiles are made from recycled car tyres and drinks bottles, and we capture rainwater to use to flush the toilets.”
The cafe has a lovely cosy, sociable atmosphere, but is bright and airy and even on a rainy and cold February morning the views out across Garth Park are the perfect accompaniment to the delicious offerings on the menu.
Lorraine’s day starts at 4.30 am as all the artisan bread used in the cafe is baked on the premises.
Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh and many are sourced locally, including the coffee which is supplied by Ue Coffee Roasters in Witney and is roasted over wood.
