[dropcap type=”circle”]N[/dropcap]orth Oxfordshire MP Victoria Prentis has welcomed the news that the area will benefit from a pothole fund.

The Department for Transport announced that Oxfordshire’s road-users will benefit from a dedicated £1,315,000 pothole fund, which will be used to repair a number of Oxfordshire’s potholes.

The fund is being allocated to local councils by the Government as part of a £1.2 billion allowance for pothole repairs. This includes money from the new National Productivity Investment Fund, which was announced in the recent Autumn statement.

It is hoped that the funding will improve roads, safety and journey times. Local motorists will benefit from the dedicated funding, as part of a wider package totalling £19,409,000 across Oxfordshire, to repair and maintain local infrastructure.

Following the Government’s announcement, Victoria commented: “Since my election, I have been contacted by a number of constituents who have raised concerns about roads in the constituency. The funding will be a welcome addition to local infrastructure budgets, and make travelling around the constituency much safer.”
