[dropcap type =”circle”]A[/dropcap] new-year boost for jobseekers is in the offing with a new course of skills training sessions.
Bicester Green is hosting and delivering the seven sessions between 10 January and 21 February. Cherwell District Council, which was one of the enterprise’s co-founders, is supporting and promoting the courses.
They cover three practical topics: upholstery, DIY and up-cycling; each comprising two three-hour sessions. A further three-hour session will cover back-to-work skills.
Cllr Barry Wood, leader of the council, said: “Bicester Green is a popular and dynamic organisation at the heart of the town. We applaud its work to empower residents with new skills, all the while preventing used bikes, furniture and electrical items from being thrown away.
“New year is the perfect time for anyone in between jobs to gain some extra know-how to help them back to work. The free courses are presented in manageable three-hour sessions that will be inclusive and fun to attend.”
Bicester Green works with volunteers from all walks of life to reduce waste by refurbishing furniture, bikes and electronic devices, selling them on at affordable prices to the community.
