[dropcap type =”circle”]L[/dropcap]ocal businesses have a chance to shine following the launch of the 2017 Cherwell Business Awards.

With the support of Cherwell District Council, the Cherwell Business Awards are in their sixth year.
Entries are being sought from all types of local enterprise, from large, established companies to not-for-profits and small independents.

Cllr Lynn Pratt, Cherwell’s lead member for estates and the economy, said: “Cherwell is a dynamic and industrious district and these awards are a great opportunity for us to acknowledge the entrepreneurs and workers who are the backbone of our economy.

“The awards are now a fixture of Cherwell’s business community, and are well recognised as an opportunity for partnership and networking, and for up-and-coming businesses to raise their profile on the public stage.

“Cherwell District Council is delighted to be sponsoring and supporting the awards, and I urge as many businesses as possible, whether large or small, to enter and help us celebrate their achievements.”

At the launch of the awards, Cllr Pratt and economic growth officer Julia Aratoon both spoke on behalf of Cherwell at the event, which was a chance for attendees to meet the sponsors and some of the winners and finalists from previous years.

Other speakers included Neill Brodey, Managing Director of Norbar; and Keith Houliston, Sales Director of British Bakels, winners of the Overall Business of the Year 2016 and Established Business of the Year 2016.

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2017 and the finalists will be announced in March. The winners of the awards’ 11 categories will be announced at a gala dinner to be held on 5 May.
