Nursery staff, children and parents in Heyford, celebrated Children In Need but this year, decided to do something a little different.
The Old Station Nursery, which offers care for children aged 0-5 years, put a twist on their Children In Need day and asked their families to donate items to the local food bank.
The local nursery in Upper Heyford is part of The Old Station Nursery Group, which raised a total of £986.50 from donations.
Jan Thorp, Nursery Manager at Heyford said: “We wanted to participate in Children in Need but with a twist, as we know lots of families are struggling at the moment. Heyford has such a friendly community, who have recently opened a food bank. We thought, what better way to help our community than to support their new venture!”
Highlighting and celebrating national and international events, such as Children in Need, is an important part of the curriculum at the nursery which aims to enrich the children’s learning and development by giving them the opportunity to explore diverse topics which impact the world around them.
