[dropcap type =”circle”]B[/dropcap]icester Carnival takes place on Saturday (June 29) and this year’s theme is the circus.
The annual event kicks off with a procession of floats and walking groups from Sheep Street at 12 noon and it will wind its way to Pingle Field, off Pingle Drive, where people can enjoy a host of family fun activities.
Organised by Bicester Town Council, the carnival will once again be part of the town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations.
A host of stalls and attractions will line the showground including games, raffles, face painting, food and drink stalls, and a fun fair.
People can learn circus tricks, including juggling, and there will also be an arena with shows including a military display, tug of war, live music performances and dance displays.
Mayor Jason Slaymaker, will join the procession in the town council’s traditional Charabanc car, said: “Bicester Carnival is a firm favourite in the town council’s events calendar. It’s a great day out for all of the family and I for one am really looking forward to it.
“There will be a host of entertainment and stalls, including those run by local groups and charities, and plenty of activities to keep children busy. We will be keeping our fingers crossed for good weather.”
Proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the organisations and charities supported by the mayor this year, which are OYAP Trust, Nai’s House, Bicester Fire Cadets and Alexandra House of Joy.
The fun at Pingle Field will start at 12pm noon and the event finishes at 5pm. Tickets cost £3 adults and £2 for under 16s, and under 5s are free.
