Springteriors-time to give your home that spring time touch

[dropcap type =”circle”]O[/dropcap]ut with the old and in the with new is the feeling of this month as Spring brings a welcomed breath of warm(ish), fresh air. With the new season comes high end luxury velvets and rich textures as new opulence is reflected in bold bursts of colour. As people become more colour conscious and increasingly aware of how this can affect the mood of the house, green gets the go ahead, reflecting wellness, green juices and society’s innate desire to immerse itself within the natural world and bring the outside in. Cue foliage and fire pits.

Shades of vibrant, dark greens, purples and ruby reds teamed with powdery pinks and soft blues mimic the rollercoaster ride of change and anger we have recently seen paired with the peace we are seeking. Dark green is replacing yesterday’s season staple of navy and midnight blues, adding depth and coarseness. These ore rich tonnes will go hand in hand with soft pastel colours and velvet is a perfect fabric to contrast the two shades with its versatile casual or formal appeal that is both warm in winter and cool in summer. However, if colour ain’t your thing this Spring, geometrics can offer boldness without crossing over to the colourful side.

The smooth, sleek surfaces in our overly digitalised lifestyle has prompted a desire to create spaces in our homes which are devoid of digital distraction (aeroplane mode on). Spring urges us to create a sensory environment with organic linens and ethereal sheers and use warm earthy tones and textures like timber, clay and wicker to weave texture into our homes, making them (even!) more inviting.

As we return to our organic roots, manipulating the natural world to bring it into the urban home, we should aim to freshen up our homes this month with new trends of the season. Copper is out and a muted, satin or even brushed brass is in, as a more industrial aesthetic with black steel and burnished metals is taking over. The summer holiday period is fast approaching and Europe calling, with it’s warm terracotta tiles and natural matte finish replacing yesterdays cool white ones. Marble is also on the decline along with pineapples and flamingos, vanquished by parrots and a more grown up safari look, alluding to a more luxurious feel.

With a funky fresh Spring in our step, we should be feeling recharged and ready to create some beautiful interiors.
