[dropcap type -=”circle”]P[/dropcap]eople across the country are set to eat over 33 million Christmas puddings and almost 400 million sprouts over the festive season.
Property company Chestertons polled 2,391 UK adults aged 18 and over. The research revealed that 88% of households in the UK celebrate Christmas. The average was then worked out as to how many items each household used each Christmas period, and this was then multiplied up according to the number of households published by the Office of National Statistics.
A spokesperson at www.Chestertons.com, commented: “There are almost 19 million households in the UK and around 16.6 million of those celebrate Christmas and every year go through a staggering amount of Christmas food, drink and decorations, including an incredible 320,000 miles of wrapping paper; enough to wrap around the world 13 times! However, as jars, bottles and wrapping paper are widely recycled across the country, we urge people to dispose of their waste responsibly.”
