It all started with a chocolate cake fit for a princess

[dropcap type =”circle”]T[/dropcap]here must be very few, if any, artisan businesses that have started with a member of the Royal family coveting a particularly delicious cake at a function-and then asking to take it home with them.
For Suzan Croxford, whose business is based at Upper Heyford near Bicester, this is exactly what happened.
Suzan has always loved cooking, and has developed her skills over the past thirty five years.
However, 14 years ago when the Rural Housing Trust wanted someone to cater for one of their conferences, Suzan was sought out by the organisers following a recommendation.
The patron of the Trust was in attendance, HRH Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, and her bodyguard was detailed to retain the Sachatorte – which was duly taken back to Gatcombe Park.
Suzan said: “After that, the trickle of requests became a torrent, and Croxfords was born. Now regular events have included the Great Tew Estate Horse Trials, society weddings and a large number of faithful clients who return to us again and again for consistently wonderful food served with style on every occasion.”
Suzan, who has lived in the Middle East and Africa, uses a colourful palate when creating a vast array of dishes.

Suzan hard at work in the kitchen

Croxfords stylish cuisine is perfect for every occasion, but weddings have become something of a speciality.
Suzan said: “We provide a very personal wedding service and each of our menus is tailored to the client’s requirements.

“No two weddings are the same and each venue has its own challenges. It is in the planning stage and the logistics of the running of the day where Croxfords score highly. This, with our ability to provide first class food and service is what puts us ahead of our competitors.”
Attention to detail is a must and every aspect of the wedding is gone through with staff to ensure that everyone knows the part they have to play. Timing is of great importance and a strict agenda has to be adhered to, ensuring that the day is perfect from start to finish.

Suzan added: “Whether you are planning a small, intimate wedding reception for fifty or a grand celebration for hundreds, Croxfords can help in making your special day a memorable occasion. We offer a very personal service and with our wealth of experience, you can be sure you are in safe hands.”
