The Plough-A great family, friendly pub

[dropcap type=”circle”]I[/dropcap]f you have been looking for a family friendly pub that offers great homemade food and plenty of space to spread out and relax, then The Plough in Marsh Gibbon could be just what you have been searching for.

At the centre of a busy rural community, The Plough is owned and run in a unique way by a team of five equal partners who all have a say in how the business is run.

This is something that the partners are very keen to emphasise. Having moved to the village and taken over The Plough almost 18 months ago, they feel very much a part of village life.

One of the partners, Stella Robinson, said: “As soon as I saw The Plough I knew it was right for us. It is a very old building with a lot of history and loads of space so I knew it could become a very special place for us.”

Along with Stella is her husband, as well as her son Adam and Chris Mills who looks after the front of house together with chef Ben Major.

“It really is a team effort and it works-we have established ourselves very well in the short time that we have been here and The Plough is now most definitely a family-oriented friendly pub where everyone is welcome.”

The menu includes Ben’s famous Spiced Cola Pork, fresh fish dishes and a traditional Sunday roast.

Ben said: “I love what I do and everything from the cheese sauce to the mashed potato is home made. We would really love to do more functions as the ones we have done this year have been really successful.”

With bookings rolling in thick and fast for Christmas, the team are looking forward to a busy festive season.

Stella added: “We are open for lunch from Tuesday to Sunday and Tuesday to Saturday for evening meals. We also have a little café within the pub that is really popular and we run a book swap as well. We are very much part of the community and many local groups come herefor get togethers. We like to support local musicians and so we do have regular live music events here.”

Booking in advance is recommended. Ring 01869 278759 or email PloughMarshGibbon@gmail.com

The café at The Plough is a popular venue for coffee and cake.
