Artists add sparkle to Christmas at Blenheim

[dropcap type =”circle”]A[/dropcap] team of international artists will be transforming Blenheim Palace into an illuminated wonderland as part of a magical new festive trail this winter (November 25th – January 2nd).

‘Christmas at Blenheim’ will see the Oxfordshire estate lit up by a series of stunning outdoor attractions including a scented fire garden, dancing cascades, sparkling hedgerows, fairy-lit arbours, singing Christmas trees and a lake aglow with brightly-lit boats.

Blenheim’s lakeside boathouse will also become a temporary home for Santa Claus as part of the hour-long illuminated festive discovery trail.

The event is being created by Zoe Bottrell, director of Northumberland-based Culture Creative, who is enlisting a team of talented artists to create specific illuminations inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Among those taking part are ‘And Now:’ who will be building a scented living fire garden within the existing Rose Garden, Brighton-based light artists and sound designers ITHACA, who are installing singing Christmas trees, and Light Works who will be creating the Fibreoptic Cascade and Fairy Woodland.

The French artistic studio TILT are designing 10-metre-tall light flower sculptures and actors from the Walking Theatre Company who will be providing interactive encounters and performances throughout the visit.

The trail has been specially designed to appeal for visitors of all ages to enjoy. The Great Outdoors made magical.
