[dropcap type =”circle”]V[/dropcap]isitors are invited to an unofficial Autumn Watch at Blenheim Palace, as the 2,000 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown Parkland and five formal gardens turn from green to golden.
While the Oxfordshire Stately Home is bathed in russet tones; enjoy exploring the landscape and spotting the wildlife who have made home in the World Heritage Site.
For the best colours
Head to the North Park and immerse yourself in the beautiful golden reds and yellows of autumn. Crunch through the Oak, Beech and Sycamore leaves and enjoy the early sunsets across the lake-side and Rosamund’s Well.
For bird lovers
Visitors can enjoy spotting flocks of autumnal birds which congregate on the Queen Pool and Great Lake. Look out for Pochard Ducks, distinguishable by their red plumage, as they migrate to escape the cold winters in Siberia and Russia; as well as Black-headed Gulls, Swans, migratory Canada Geese and Greylag Geese.
For the best wildlife
Take the extended park walk, approximately an hour and a half, and look out for wild deer and pheasants that inhabit the Parkland. As you amble along stop and see the Ancient Oaks and the abundance of wildlife that live in them.
